Chelsea Supporters Club and Chelsea Supporters Group are saddened by the news of the passing of Terry Venables at the age of 80.
Terry was famously a product of Chelsea’s youth system, one of (Tommy) Docherty’s Diamonds in the early 1960s, having helped guide the club to back-to-back FA Youth Cup successes before graduating into the first team. There, he made 237 senior appearances, scoring 31 goals, before going on to represent fellow London clubs Tottenham Hotpur, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace with distinction, as well as earning two full England caps.
In retirement, he managed for almost four decades, notably and successfully with Barcelona in Spain, before leading England into Euro 96, where his Three Lions reached the Semi Finals. A true legend of the game, may he Rest In Peace.
